This was taken on the same unusually warm New Year’s Eve day on Parkman Mountain, when the woods seemed to be making their own weather. Warm air moved over cold ground, fog lifted through the spruce, and every opening in the branches caught the light differently.
The first photograph from that day felt wide and open. This one felt deeper in the woods — more tangled, quieter, and a little more mysterious.
