This is Seawall, where the coast feels a little rougher and the weather seems to have more of a say.
I love this tree because it looks like it has taken everything the ocean could throw at it and decided to stay anyway. Wind, salt, fog, winter, storms — all of it written into those bare crooked branches. It is not a pretty tree in the postcard sense. It is better than that. It has character.
The fog makes the whole place feel half-real, like the shore is disappearing behind it and this one dark tree is the last thing holding the world in place. No big sunset, no dramatic color, just stone, mist, ocean, and a stubborn old spruce standing where it probably should not.
That feels very Maine to me. Not soft exactly, but beautiful in the way hard things can be beautiful when they endure.
