This is Bracy Cove, tucked between Seal Harbor and Northeast Harbor, and on this evening the sky decided to make a production of it.
The clouds were stretched wide over the water, purple and blue and pink all at once, with the last fire of the day burning low on the horizon. The rocks in the foreground felt old and solid, like they had seen a thousand sunsets and still knew enough to sit still for this one.
I like this part of Acadia because it feels a little quieter than the places everyone talks about. Not hidden exactly, but not shouting for attention either. You can stand there between two well-known harbors and feel like you found a small pocket of the coast that belongs mostly to weather, tide, and light.
Some sunsets are just pretty. This one felt bigger than that — like the whole cove had opened up for a few minutes, and all you had to do was be there before it closed again.
